Geez these guys are making Santorum seem reasonable?! To govern, you will have to compromise....
Politico: Analysis of debate
Umm 40% of children are born out of wedlock today? Shocking! (no sarcasm here, that is crazy)
AND as usual, as my husband just said "what are you saying Ron Paul?" Rambling but cute as ever!
Funny comment: "describe yourself in one word"-->Newt said "cheerful"

GOP Arizona Debate
I am going to watch this DVRed later tonight! What are people excited about? I am interested to see if Gingrich and Paul are still around :) Also I am hoping that Romney can present himself and his views in a way that shows why he is better candidate than Santorum!
Also if you read this later, please post your favorite comment from the debate.
Lastly, I hope the Arizona governor endorses ROMNEY (even if she looks a little bit scary-right?!).

Romney for President
Who cares about Mitt Romney's taxes?!
This was my frustration a few weeks ago when these came out and they were ALL the press could talk about (well they talked about how low his effective tax rate was). Did he do anything ILLEGAL? No, then let's move on. This guy has worked hard, brought success and jobs to his companies and there is nothing wrong with this! (As a disclaimer, I love capitalism and my Dad is a man who made himself from a poor background with hard work and the greatness of America).
Anyways, I'd like to get some posts on articles related to this so please 'comment' and post links. I suppose I am open to hearing both sides but I feel that I have heard the negative side enough at this point:)

Write a check!
Don't get me wrong, I love Warren Buffet and what he stands for! (To me he stands for capitalism:) But I do agree with Governor Chris Christie here (What he said) about Warren Buffet's complaint that his secretary has a higher effective tax rate than he does! Ok we have identified that this is a grey area but if you are not going to run for office and try to change this yourself, give more to the government. Let's face it, he could make a dent and 'God bless America', it is a free country so he can give if he'd like!
As a side note-I like Chris Christie! I am learning more about him but I generally agree with what I have heard and also have heard first-hand (Thanks Shirin!) that he is a great speaker. My only complaint is that he should take better care of himself (outside of politics, I know).

My goal
Hi everyone! Not sure what this blog will be like yet but I feel that politics is becoming more important to me and I want to keep learning more. Not sure if it is my age or moving to DC (so politically charged) but my political views are becoming stronger. I want to use this blog to discuss things that are interesting to me and also find more information to DEFEND these views.
Initially my mind is going to these topics as ones I'd like to explore:
Also, starting with this title "The New Conservative," not because I am newly conservative but because I am newly thinking about this a lot and also because I feel that I am part of a "new" or maybe just a subset of the conservatives in this country to whom the primary defining feature of this ideology is the role of the government (or lack thereof!).

- inheritance tax
- press coverage of Romney taxes / Bain experience
- increasing regulation of small businesses
